Treacy Ziegler studied printmaking and painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts where she received a Henry J. Scheidt Traveling Award and several other awards. Previous to studying art at PAFA, Ziegler received a MSW from University of Pennsylvania. SInce graduating from PAFA she has been exhibiting her work in various galleries throughout the United States and Canada. In 2009 she began An Open WIndow Project - a project that exhibits artwork in prison and teaches in-prison workshops in various states. She has a network of 2500 prisoners through the US with whom she developed through-the-mail art projects.through-the-mail art curriculums. For the work she has done in prison, Ziegler received two Puffin Foundation, LTD awards. Ziegler writes regularly on art for the Broad Street Review.
