Hoffman’s paintings are born in observation, though it is in her studio that her landscapes are brought into being. There is a parallel relation between her painterly approach and her subject: some works are rendered with thin, transparent applications of oil paint, creating an effect like watercolor, while in others the paint is applied quite thickly, resulting in a more textured surface. This varied approach helps define the pervading mood of each piece.
Hoffman attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art and Philadelphia College of Art. She has exhibited widely in the region and has garnered numerous awards in juried exhibitions. Her corporate collections include Johnson & Johnson, IBM, Bell Atlantic, and the DuPont, to name a few.
