David C. Leonard was born in Wilmington, DE in 1962 and grew up in the small village of West Eaton in central New York state. He established a solid exhibition career since receiving his BFA in 1985 from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. David’s paintings breathe life and spirit into the mechanical structures and buildings that make up our cities. San Francisco streets swing and sway as if they were concrete rivers. Glassy skyscrapers glisten in the sunshine like colossal movie monsters while gas station signs loom on dusky horizons like ancient totems. Leonard’s work is part of numerous private collections in the USA, Canada, & France as well as several corporate collections including Exelon New England in Boston. His work has been featured in the Austin American-Statesman, D Magazine, ARTnews and American Art Collector as well as shown throughout Texas, California, New York and Philadelphia. He currently resides in Austin, Texas.
